“With Roma about Roma” participants honor activists for their contributions to community support

On April 25, 2025, the team of the Roma Rights Center participated in the open event “With Roma About Roma” held at the Community House in Odesa. Dedicated to International Roma Day, the event aimed to raise awareness about Roma culture, current challenges, and community achievements.

The gathering brought together NGO representatives, youth initiatives, UNHCR partners, human rights advocates, and activists, fostering an inclusive and safe space for dialogue and intercultural exchange.

A highlight for our team was the presentation by Valentyna Halaichuk, Roma mediator and assistant project coordinator at the Center. She shared:

• our key areas of work;

• values and support strategies for Roma youth;

• initiatives focused on legal aid, education, and leadership development.

The event addressed:

🔹 Roma history and cultural identity;

🔹 issues of discrimination and social exclusion;

🔹 youth engagement in positive social change.
